Interaction Lab

Los Angeles, CA

PhD Student · Advisor: Dr. Maja Matarić

May 2026 – Present
  • Lead study design and deployment planning for an NIH clinical trial, a six-week in-home study evaluating a socially assistive robot for college students with elevated levels of anxiety
  • Design implicit personalization mechanisms for longitudinal human-robot interaction, including user-state models, conversational memory selection, adaptive scaffolding, and context-aware dialogue policies
  • Develop survey instruments, IRB materials, and longitudinal measures of trust, acceptability, comfort, and continued-use intentions to evaluate changes in engagement across repeated interactions

Human-Centered Robotics Lab

Seattle, WA

Research Intern · Advisor: Dr. Maya Cakmak

June 2025 – Present
  • Selected as NSF REU Fellow ($9,000) at the University of Washington to contribute to an Amazon-funded project on shared autonomy in human-robot interaction in a home environment
  • Developed a web-based teleoperation and shared autonomy system for the Hello-Robot Stretch, enabling users to specify control handoffs via end-user programming in long-horizon tasks
  • Evaluated system performance across 10 in-home tasks, identifying technical limitations
  • Led a 24-participant user study (novice and experienced) to analyze human-in-the-loop decisions and inform future approaches to personalized robot learning

Computer-Human Interaction Lab

Houston, TX

Research Assistant · Advisor: Dr. Michael Byrne

August 2023 – Present
  • Implemented and conducted 7 experiments in Python with 240 participants total on visual grouping and analyzed data, enhancing a computational model for evaluating voting ballot design
  • Selected appropriate study objectives and research methods to build on findings and establish a visual grouping hierarchy
  • Supervised a 60-participant study comparing AI-based and traditional web-based information gathering, evaluating task performance and cognitive strategies in health and consumer contexts

The DeLucia Human Factor and Perception Lab

Houston, TX

Research Assistant · Advisor: Dr. Patricia DeLucia

August 2024 – Present
  • Conducted 2 experiments and analyzed eye-tracking data from 50+ participants using R, applying statistical methods
  • Revamped the data analysis pipeline by developing R scripts to automate cleaning and visualization of Excel datasets
  • Synthesized findings from over 30 peer-reviewed studies in a literature review on nature exposure and driving performance, focusing on attention, reaction time, and driver well-being

Research projects

Caregivers’ Perceptions of Robot Capabilities and Errors and Influence on Trust

Aug 2025 – Present
  • Formulated an honors thesis under Dr. Vaibhav Unhelkar on how informal vs. formal caregivers perceive and respond to robot errors, guiding the design of intuitive training methods and trust-aware robotic systems
  • Designed and proposed methodology, analytic plan, and survey measures to examine error perception, recovery strategies, and trust outcomes across caregiver groups in both home and clinical care contexts
  • Implemented robot-assisted caregiving tasks with error injection via YOLO training and state-based task control

Cultural Influences on Preferences for Technology-Mediated Well-being Support Tools

Aug 2025 – Present
  • Conceptualized a study examining how cultural dimensions shape acceptance and preferences for mental well-being support types (peer support, psychoeducation) across technology modalities (AI chatbots, AR/VR, social robots)
  • Administered a survey to 200+ US participants and am expanding to include participants in Japan and Saudi Arabia
  • Won a $1,000 grant through the Rice Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry

NASA Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students Challenge

Sept 2024 – May 2025
  • Authored a research proposal to NASA, accepted as 1 of only 10 selected nationwide
  • Designed low- and high-fidelity prototypes for an augmented reality heads-up display to support spacesuit operator interactions during ingress and egress for extravehicular activities, through iterative human-in-the-loop studies

Work experience

United Airlines

Chicago, IL
